Using Assignment Types

Grammarly has different “Assignment types,” which look for different issues in your writing.* To adjust document type:

  1. Open a document.
  2. Choose the "Document type" icon in the left menu.
  3. Select a new document type from the fold-out menu.

Available document types are shown in the following image:

Document fold out menu displays document types: General (default), Academic, Business, Technical, Medical, Creative, and Casual

*Librarian Tip: If your assignment doesn't fit neatly into one of the assignment categories in Grammarly, switch things up and use various document types to check for new issues.

 

Checking for Plagiarism

To turn on the plagiarism checker*:

  1. Open a document.
  2. Locate the "plagiarism" icon on the bottom right of the page.
  3. Slide the bar to the "on" position.

The following image shows the plagiarism checker option in the “on” position, with an added message at the top of the window that the plagiarism checker is now enabled:

*Librarian Tip: The plagiarism checker only checks for plagiarism from websites.
