Tech Tip Tuesday: Tools for Browsing Privacy

Welcome back to a new semester, and new installments of #TechTip Tuesday!

It's no secret that our web browsing habits are monitored through our social media accounts and search engines. Conversations had with friends turn into ads on our screens, and that is no coincidence. Data harvesting is big for business! It can also be an annoyance. Check out some of these search engines, browsers, and add-ons which will help you maintain a level of privacy when browsing the web:

Startpage.com - This search engine will allow you to search the web without interference from Big Data. Start Page doesn't track or sell your search history.

Brave - This stand-alone web browser will force you to ditch Firefox, Chrome, and other browsers. It boasts faster browsing speed, as well as a points system so you can earn while you browse. But... Brave doesn't sell your data, so you stay secure.

Firefox for Mobile - Browse privately using Private Browsing Mode. This feature is always available via computer by using the menu on the Firefox toolbar.

If you're a dedicated Chrome user, you can also use an add-on like DuckDuckGo to block adware and tracking in your Chrome browser.
