Welcome to Flashback Friday, where we share a bit of the campus history with you every Friday! For our first installment, we would like to share some information about Delta Sigma Kappa, a secret co-educational honorary fraternity founded in 1935. It was deemed a "secret society" because new inductees were not revealed and initiated until their senior year. To become a member, you must have demonstrated 4 characteristics: scholarship, leadership, personality, and the ability to serve. This ledger from the library archives (see photos below) tracked the initiation of members. It included their name, date of birth, induction date, hometown, and parents' names. The document on the inside cover shows the group's involvement on campus and what they contributed to the community. While the society no longer exists on campus, it demonstrates our students' commitment to collaboration and education. Do you think you had what it took to be a member of Delta Sigma Kappa?

This document shows how the group remained active in the campus community by sponsoring a student loan fund, planning acts of appreciation for student/faculty, and making constructive suggestions to the campus newspaper, The Tystenac.
