What's New at Pfeiffer Library?

Flashback Friday: TU Christmas Card

by Brigitte Galauner on 2021-12-03T10:00:00-05:00 in Archive | 0 Comments

To conclude our Flashback Friday series for the fall semester, we have a very festive piece to share with you this week: A Tiffin University Christmas card!  The exact purpose of this card is unknown, but we can infer that they were handed out during the holiday season.  Based off the artwork, we believe that these cards were created in the 1940s.  The card features names of Tiffin University faculty and staff, using their last name or professional title.  Each name is also associated with an item on the Christmas tree.  In most cases, the item relates to the person's role on campus.  Some of the objects are obvious, while others are a bit open to interpretation.

This illustration demonstrates how everyone contributes to the well-being of Tiffin University, and that everyone has an important role!  Where might you place yourself on that tree?

This card was specially designed to highlight faculty and staff members at Tiffin University.  Each name pertains to an object on the tree, which relates to the role they had on campus.  Some good examples are Miss Christman (piano), Conrad (basketball hoop), and Mr. Zellar (dictionary).
