e Frederick Douglass Papers at the Library of Congress presents the papers of the nineteenth-century African-American abolitionist who escaped from slavery and then risked his own freedom by becoming an outspoken antislavery lecturer, writer, and publisher. The release of the Douglass Papers, from the Library of Congress's Manuscript Division, contains approximately 7,400 items (38,000 images) relating to Douglass' life as an escaped slave, abolitionist, editor, orator, and public servant. The papers span the years 1841 to 1964, with the bulk of the material from 1862 to 1895. The collection consists of correspondence, speeches and articles by Douglass and his contemporaries, a draft of his autobiography, financial and legal papers, scrapbooks, and miscellaneous items. These papers reveal Douglass' interest in diverse subjects such as politics, emancipation, racial prejudice, women's suffrage, and prison reform.

Founded in 1994 by Richard Gilder and Lewis E. Lehrman, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is a nonprofit organization devoted to the improvement of history education. The Institute has developed an array of programs for schools, teachers, and students that now operate in all fifty states, including a website that features the more than 60,000 unique historical documents in the Gilder Lehrman Collection. Each year the Institute offers support and resources to tens of thousands of teachers, and through them enhances the education of more than a million students. The Institute’s programs have been recognized by awards from the White House, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Organization of American Historians.

This site is a comprehensive assemblage of terms “featuring phonetic pronunciation, hyperlinked cross references & definitions, examples, quotations, writers' guidelines,” and my favorite feature, the “ Sidelights - informative glimpses beyond the definitions” (Shubinski).

This glossary came from the late Ross Scaife, who encountered it during his graduate studies at the University of Texas. Chris Renaud gave it to him, stating that it originated with Ernest Ament of Wayne State University. Ross, in turn, added some additional examples.

The Institute on Ethnicity, Culture, and the Modern Experience is celebrating its second decade as an interdisciplinary academic center that, through public partnerships and programming, offers the Newark metropolitan area the finest thinkers and artists engaged with key issues of modern life. Through an array of lectures, fellowships, symposia, film screenings, performances, exhibitions, and other programs, we foster broad public discussion on the arts and culture; urban life and development; diversity and race relations; local, national, and transnational history; and education. The Institute promotes intercultural understanding, civic and historical empathy, and community engagement as crucial elements in the development of civic life in Newark and beyond.

ILEJ, the "Internet Library of Early Journals" was a joint project by the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford, conducted under the auspices of the eLib (Electronic Libraries) Programme. It aimed to digitise substantial runs of 18th and 19th century journals, and make these images available on the Internet, together with their associated bibliographic data. The project finished in 1999, and no additional material will be added.

The Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism (JDTC) was founded in 1986 at the University of Kansas and publishes full-length articles that contribute to the varied conversations in dramatic theory and criticism, explore the relationship between theory and theatre practice, and/or examine recent scholarship by a single author. JDTC is published twice each year by the Department of Theatre and the Department of English, with support from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This electronic edition provides free access to the back issues of the journal. The most recent three years are available via print subscription only.

JAC Online is the companion website to the print journal JAC: a forum for scholars interested in theoretical approaches to the interdisciplinary study of rhetoric, culture, and politics. Its primary purpose is to provide access to the JAC archives and to the audio versions of its interview series. JAC publishes four book-length issues a year, featuring articles, interviews, essays, review essays, and book reviews. The journal is peer-reviewed and sponsors four annual awards for outstanding scholarship. We receive generous financial and technological support from Idaho State University, Illinois State University, and the University of North Texas.
