Persistent links enable you to share content you find in the library databases. Frequently the link you see in your address bar while browsing library resources is a temporary link. While it may work for a bit, it will eventually break, which will leave yourself and others frustrated.
Persistent links are great to know for
This guide will show you where you can find persistent links depending on the database in use.
EBSCOhost is home to many of the library databases including DragonQuest, Academic Search Complete, and Business Source Complete to name a few. To find the persistent link in an EBSCO database, you will need to be in the item's bibliographic page, which contains all of the resource's information such as publication date, author, etc. You can find the bibliographic page by clicking on the title of the source on your search results page.
An overview of the steps to find the persistent link in EBSCO are as what follows:
The link that appears above the title is what you want to save, not the link in the address bar as that is still not the permanent link.
To find the persistent link in the Electronic Journal Center (EJC) you will need to be on the item's bibliographic profile page, which contains the item's title, author, abstract, and a link to the full text. On that page, there is a field for permalink between the volume and keyword fields. This is the link you will want to bookmark.

In Nexis Uni to find the persistent link, there are a few steps. Like the others, you will want to be in the item where you can read its contents and bibliographic information, not on your search results page.
An overview of the steps to find the persistent link in Nexis Uni are as what follows:
The link now copied on to your clipboard is the persistent link, not any link found in an address bar. You will want to paste the link somewhere to save it.
If you plan to access the link off-campus, you will need to add the proxy in front of the link. Tiffin University's proxy is https://login.tu.opal-libraries.org/login?url=
Academic Writer has many tutorials and examples that you may want to embed in courses for students.
If you wish to share this content with another or embed in a course, you can use the embed link found on the top right above the content.
Within the embed code, you will need to edit to add our proxy prefix. The prefix is used if anyone may be accessing this content off-campus. At this time, Academic Writer settings do not allow us to add this into the code for you.
To edit this code, anywhere you see a link to http://apastylecentral.apa.org you should add our prefix in front of the http://. Tiffin University's prefix is https://tu.opal-libraries.org/login?url= . In the end, your link should look something like this:
https://tu.opal-libraries.org/login?url=http://apastylecentral.apa.org/testing
Within Moodle, an external tool option has been enabled. This creates a link for students to enter Academic Writer directly through Moodle. With this integration, they will only need to sign into their account once from your course through that link. After that initial log in, a single sign-on from Moodle to Academic Writer will be enabled where they can take full advantage of all the features in this guide.
With the external tool option, we also have access to pre-made assessments for APA style to test student knowledge with grade book integration. These assessments can be paired with tutorials within the platform. The available assessments include the following:
These are the same as the self-quiz options available in the Learn tab of the platform. If you are interested in learning more or integrating these tests into your course, please contact Moodle Support at moodlesupport@tiffin.edu.
There are 2 types of catalogs you may be searching at our library: the OPAL catalog (Tiffin University catalog) or the OhioLINK catalog. Each has a different way to find the persistent link, but are fairly similar.
The OPAL catalog's persistent link can be found by clicking the "Permanent Link" option at the bottom of the page underneath the item's box. Clicking this will refresh your page, changing the link in your address bar to the permanent link.
The OhioLINK catalog's persistent link can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the item's page, where you will find a "Bookmark this record as." You can click on the link provided to refresh your page and to update your address bar with the permanent link or simply just copy and save the link provided.
