Even More Research Guides, Again!
Our school research guide replacement project is complete!
The School of Arts & Sciences now has specific subject guides that are similar to others that already exist. Here are a few examples of the recently added guides:
Because we constantly strive to assist the information needs of students, we're not done yet! If you have any comments or suggestions about these or other guides, let us know!
Discovery @ the Library
Did you notice a change in our book catalog?
You can now click our locations to learn more about where you can find this location in the library! It's a great feature for those that feel they sometimes walk into the library with no idea where to go.
In addition to this, WorldCat Discovery is now available! WorldCat Discovery searches the following databases at one time:
At the end of the semester, many of these individual databases will be removed and replaced by WorldCat Discovery in our database list.
If you have an assignment which asks you to seek out information specific to the area in which you live, we have a great resource for you! Use American Fact Finder to pull up the latest statistics for your area- everything from population and demographic information, income, and much more!
Enter your zip code at this link to get started: http://factfinder.census.gov/
Use the left navigation menu to cycle through data collected through various national surveys and censuses. Guided and advanced searching options are also available!
Reversing Classroom Plagiarism
Just one month left in the semester!
If you find your students struggling with plagiarism and citations in their final papers, reconsider the XF grade. You could send them to the library's service of Academic Integrity Development (AID) to help improve their understanding, their writing, and their grade.
AID transforms violations of the university’s Academic Honesty Policy into a documented learning opportunity through a series of self-paced modules in Moodle on citations, academic integrity, and prevention tools. It is then followed up with a tutoring appointment for the plagiarized assignment, which can occur virtually for online students.
To learn more about the program or to enroll a student, visit the AID information page or contact us.
Upcoming Events
To celebrate National Library Week, April 11-15, we will be holding a prize drawing!
You can enter a number of ways:
Entrants will have a shot at being the lucky winner of a new T-shirt, a travel mug, a Frisbee, and a book.
Additionally in April we will have our traditional end-of-the-semester extended hours and Free Coffee for Finals. We will also have a few webinars in collaboration with the CITL for plagiarism education. For more information, view our calendar.
New Acquisitions
Here are a few recently added titles to the Faculty Development Collection. If you would ever like to see a title added to the library's collection, remember that you can also give us a recommendation! (We love them!)
Have a great summer, everyone!
