Schedule one-on-one appointments using your Google calendar

Google Calendar has numerous features for setting up points of collaboration with students, whether you're teaching on campus or online. This week's #TechTip focuses on setting up your Google Calendar for appointment slots so that you can easily find a time to meet with students one-on-one. This feature works great for students trying to schedule group projects or faculty who want to schedule appointments with students during office hours.

If you'd like to set up your calendar for student appointments, follow these steps:

1- Select the time slot on your Google calendar when you are signed in to your university email.

2- Select the "appointment slots" option.

3- Set the duration of time you'll be open to accept appointments. (Example: Tuesday, July 12, 9am - 2pm)

4- Choose "slots with duration" if you'd like to hold several appointments within that span of time, or "single slot" if you'd like for one student to schedule the entire duration of time for an appointment.

5- Select "more options" to add location, including an online meeting room link through Collaborate or use the default Google Hangout link, which is automatically generated when you create the appointment. You can also invite guests so they receive an email invitation with a link to confirm the appointment.
